LILY THOMSON DESIGNS
Brighton Pavilion
Our final university project was based around Windsor Castle and how we interpret the objects inside it. I originally chose to base my design around George IV's Coronation Sword, which then branched out to Brighton Pavilion. Designing the costume was almost as hard as tailoring it because of the excess of decoration and embellishments and expressing the sheer scale of the building.

Most of the photographs were taken before the addition of the train (eventually taking up 15 metres of silk Dupion) so the photographs of the final completed piece are a bit less professional. Hoops made from cane were sewn to the inside of the lampshade parts of the skirt too to give them structure.
