HARVEST

I had the chance to assist Munir Malik with his short film production titled 'Harvest'. It is a horror film set in dense forest (filmed on location in surrey). Because it was a trial film the costumes needed to be budgeted - many of the ensembles were made up garments that were already owned by the actors and film crew, which we dyed, aged and broke down to look old. We had a lot of fun making the wooden masks for the supernatural characters - they were surprisingly effective in giving the costumes a scary flourish.

Although it is obscure in this photo, we spent time arranging the natural surroundings to make shapes that could be associated with a vague occult practice. This was the first way we created a sinister atmosphere. We were careful not to include anything non-organic.
